What to compare instead of the logo
- Warranty tier: a 12-year tank from any brand usually has more built in than a 6-year tank.
- First-hour rating: how much hot water it delivers in a busy hour.
- Efficiency (UEF) and the EnergyGuide yearly cost.
- Labor coverage: often from the installer, not the manufacturer.
- Fit: gas type, venting and size for your closet or garage, plus San Diego's strapping and permit requirements.
General information, not professional or legal advice; follow your manufacturer's manual, and your installer and local permit office have the final word.
